Coaching Staff (Welcome Letter from Coaching Staff)

Patrick Kibler, Head Coach

Patrick will rejoin the Greene Hills team for his 16th year coaching with the Gators.  Patrck has also coached with William Monroe High School and is the current head coach of BASS, a local year-round swim team.  He was an outstanding swimmer for Greene Hills for many years, placing in the top 3 in the league.  In high school, he was a Jefferson District HS Champion and Virginia State High School finalist in breaststroke, freestyle and IM.  Patrick is a WMHS record holder in several events and a Zones Qualifier in USA Swimming.  He graduated with a degree in biology from the University of Virginia, where he swam on the club team.  He currently works with his wife, as a photographer.  They reside in Stanardsville with their seven children.

Bethany Kennon

Bethany previously coached at ACAC and was an assistant coach for Randolph College in 2017. She currently coaches with BASS year-round and is excited to coach the Gators again this summer!  Bethany swam for Liberty University from 2011-2014 and led the team to a conference championship in 2014 in just its fourth year of existence.  Among her accolades are being awarded the NCAA’s CCSA Woman of the Year Award and Liberty Athletic’s Dr. Jerry Falwell Leadership Award.  She earned a degree in Sports Management from Liberty and resides in Greene County with her husband Wade and their three children.

Wade Kennon

Wade grew up playing golf, swimming on the swim team, and lifeguarding at Greene Hills Club. After high school he went Liberty University and studied engineering. While at Liberty, Wade continued to work as a lifeguard. One day after a Liberty Swim Team practice, he met his wife Bethany, who has led him into the deep end of the sport of swimming. Since then, Wade has grown a love for the sport and has been witness to glory and disappointment. In recent years he has coached at ACAC, but is excited to be back home with the Greene Hills Gators.

Jonny Kibler

Jonny is rejoining the Greene Hills coaching staff! Jonny was an exceptional swimmer in his youth, swimming for Greene Hills as well as BASS. He consistently placed in the top 3 in the Jefferson Swim League, was a high school state qualifier and was a zones qualifier for USA swimming. After high school, Jonny swam for the James Madison University swim team where he graduated with a degree in psychology. He currently resides in Greene County with his wife and two children.

Spring Payne

Coach Spring returned to Greene Hills as a coach in 2022 and is excited to help teach and lead our young aspiring swimmers again this year!  She swam for the Greene Hills Gators from age 5-18, while also swimming year-round with BASS, where she currently coaches year-round.  Coach Spring graduated from Northeastern University with a degree in Industrial Engineering and Boston University with a Masters Degree in Urban Affairs.  She currently lives in Madison, VA with her husband and their four children.

Ryan Taylor

Ryan is returning for his third year coaching with the Gators!  He swam for the Greene Hills Gators in his youth and currently swims for Gardner Webb University.  In high school he was a 4-time high school state finalist, was a member of the Virginia Eastern Zones team and qualified in USA Swimming for Winter Junior Nationals and Futures.

Everyone at Greene Hills is excited to have Patrick and his staff back as our coaches for the season. They all bring their excellent swimming experiences, instruction, and enthusiasm to the Gators!
