The Black Team defeated the Blue Team in the Ladies 18-hole League Championship on Sunday, August 16.  Members of the Black Team are Lauren Eklund, Betty Eheart, Lynne Gilbert, Jane Fleming, Kelly Bell and Robin Turner.  Congratulations to all the players on a great golfing season!

Blue wins Regular Season  (Standings after final week of regular season play).  The Blue team players are Debbie Brown, Sara D. Haney, Pat Crigler, Teresa Shaner, Katie Brunelle and Kelly J. Shifflett.

Green:   137 1/2  (coin toss determined 3rd and 4th place)

A 9-hole playoff will be held on Tuesday, August 11.  Blue will play Black, and Gold will play Green.  The winners of that match will play an 18-hole match on Sunday, August 16.  The awards dinner for league players will be held on Tuesday, August 18 in the banquet room at the Hills Grille.

UPDATE:  Black defeated Blue and Green defeated Gold in the 9-hole playoff.  Black and Green will play for the championship at 1:00 on August 16.
 

A Central Virginia League consisting of teams from Birdwood Golf Course, Farmington Country Club, Glenmore Country Club, Greene Hills Club, Lake Monticello Golf Course and Waynesboro Country Club.  Handicaps of participating players are generally 20 and above.  Each match consists of four foursomes, with two visiting participants teamed against two host participants.  Format is match play, with one point earned per hole.  Each player is handicapped off the low handicap player of the foursome.  Greene Hills is the 2008 and the 2009 champion of the Jefferson League!

The Jefferson League end-of-year luncheon and 9-hole captain's choice will be held at Greene Hills on Wednesday, October 21.  Golf will begin at 10:00 am.

 

The Virginia League consists of 10 teams from Northern and Central Virginia.  The participating clubs are Culpeper Country Club, Fauquier Springs, Fawn Lake, Forest Green, Fredericksburg Country Club, Greene Hills, Lake of the Woods, Lee's Hill, Montclair and Piedmont.  The Virginia League is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year.  Greene Hills was the 2008 league winner.

The method of play is four ball match play with 1 point awarded for each hole. Each club provides a 6-player team.  In each match, the lowest handicapped player from each team must play against the lowest handicapped player from the opposing team.  Team members may have a maximum handicap of 28, however, the lowest handicapped player in the foursome will play scratch and the other players in the foursome may only receive a maximum of seven (7) strokes regardless of their handicap.  (Ex: If the lowest handicapped player in the foursome has a 10 handicap and the highest handicapped player has a 20 handicap, then the 20 handicap would only receive 7 strokes rather than 10.)
